Two ribbon cuttings

I’ve written about biking on the new Cochituate Rail Trail after it “unofficially” opened. Well, now it’s official. The ribbon cutting happened on September 28, with lots of smiles beaming through the rain, as politicians and advocates contemplated this new community asset that they had.

This is a milestone on our transformation as a region, as communities. This is a new age where thousands of people are looking for clean and healthy transportation and recreation opportunities.

Josh Ostroff, Chair, Cochituate Rail Trail Advisory Committee

(The Trail) feels like a new heart of Natick. It leads us to each other.

Karen Adelman-Foster, Chair, Natick Select Board

When I think about the people in Framingham who walk this trail, who come back and forth, I also see another opportunity — a social justice opportunity.

Yvonne Spicer, Mayor of Framingham

In the Granite State, another ribbon cutting was celebrated today: Phase II of the New Boston Rail Trail. This 1.5-mile segment completes about 4 miles of trail in New Boston, one quarter of the 16-mile regional vision to one day link with the heart of Manchester in conjunction with the Goffstown Rail Trail and Manchester Rail Trail.
